It seems that lurking in the folders of my brother’s military research, there is a possible photo of Herman Thorn Jr. I’m terribly excited to see this as it’s my only sighting of him. Of course the poor young man drowned escorting prisoners across the Colorado River at about the age of twenty six, so he never got have a family of his own.

In a previous post, I outlined as much of his military history as I could find. I’ll see if I can get a higher res phtoto, but here is a sneak peek.
